LSU Lakes Loop
A classic Baton Rouge ride: low‑stress loop around the University and City Park Lakes with water views, oak trees, and plenty of people‑watching.
Overview
The LSU Lakes loop is a go‑to route for locals looking for a quick ride before work or an easy cruise at sunset. You'll hug the shoreline of University Lake and City Park Lake with views of LSU, waterfront homes, and plenty of walkers and runners.
It's not a dedicated bike path — you'll be sharing narrow roads and shoulders with cars and pedestrians — but speeds are typically low. An e-bike with good lights and a bell fits this route perfectly.
Suggested Loop
Most riders start near City Park, Milford Wampold Memorial Park, or along Stanford Avenue. From there, follow the lakes clockwise or counter‑clockwise and simply keep the water on your side.
- • Minimal elevation change — great for beginners and recovery rides.
- • Tons of photo spots with reflections on calm days.
- • Easy to extend by riding into LSU campus or toward downtown.
E-Bike Tips Around the Lakes
Keep speeds low near runners and dog walkers. This is more social loop than race course.
Watch for potholes and drainage grates near the edge of the road, especially after heavy rain.
Sunset is gorgeous but can create glare for drivers. Make sure your lights are bright and use reflective gear.
Parking & Map
