Overview

The Baton Rouge section of the Mississippi River Trail runs along the levee, giving you big views of the river, downtown, and the LSU campus area. It's mostly wide, paved path on top of the levee with a few ramps and access points.

This is an ideal spot for Class 1–3 e-bikes — long, continuous sections where you can settle into a cadence, test range, and enjoy the view without mixing with a ton of car traffic.

Popular Route Options

~10 miles

Start near downtown riverfront and head upriver toward LSU. Beautiful sunset views and a good mix of city and open riverfront.

Long Levee Session

13+ miles

Start further south or north and use the levee path as a dedicated training ride, turning around when your battery and legs say so.

E-Bike Tips for the Baton Rouge Levee

Sun and wind exposure are real — sunscreen, sunglasses, and hydration are key, especially in summer.

Slow way down at ramps and crossings where the levee path connects to streets or parking areas.

River levels and construction projects can temporarily affect access. Check local updates or ride reports if you're traveling in from out of town.

Access & Parking

Look for parking near the downtown riverfront, LSU area, or other public lots that connect to the levee path.
